what, me, stable?

The latest MRI scan results are in. It seems that I'm "stable".
Stable? Well... the suspicious spots on the brain are stable. Okay, they have grown since the last scan, but slowly. So that's fine.
Also: If the spots were cancer then the cancer should be drawing lots of blood to support its growth -- but there are no signs of a rush of blood. That area of my brain is cold, says the cancer doc.
Which means that cancer is less likely and continuing post-treatment damage is more likely.
No, I don't like the sound of that -- it was post-treatment damage that lost my peripheral vision. Still, better than cancer :-)
Also, the spots are in the same area of brain -- as expected -- so not spreading wildly (whatever they are).

What it means is: No (significant) change. I carry on as ever. And in a grand show of faith -- the doc doesn't want another scan till after three months. Back to the original wait-and-watch schedule.
So the shirts are still valid... and that's something (else) to be glad about :-)

life goes on

Today is another MRI scan. I don't get the results for another week.
As usual, pre-scan I have all sorts of "symptoms": headaches (well minor twinges), dizziness, tiredness, tension.
The scan is done and, as usual, I feel better.
I try to explain it to Deb: the scan is done, the die is cast, if it's bad then it's too late to worry. Whatever it is, post-scan I feel relieved.
Deb is more realistic: she will stress till we get the results.

For months I've been gloomy. The prospect of death is far too real and possibly too close.
Last night I get the first "practical" response from the people developing "my app". The response is rubbish. I was doubtful, now I'm certain, they will never create the app. I guess the app is the one item on my bucket list. I decide it's never going to happen. Gloom shifts to acceptance: Wtf, when/if I die there is nothing left undone. Nothing I really want and expect anyway. So dying matters very little.
But, as usual, wtf again -- there's still plenty to do.
I continue to push the app developers, even with no expectation of results. Deb and I have lined up several fun runs and hikes. We have grandchild-minding next week. etc. No time to relax. Life... still... goes on :-)

home again

Definitely phew!
Deb and I walk 24km over the weekend. Including an incredible amount of climb -- though I suspect that the gps is confused.
I have a bit of a snooze on the way home. Deb would too but, well, she's driving.
We stop for a snack at a favourite cafe in Pinjarra. A disappointing croissant but, never mind, it's still a favourite place to stop.

And now it's good to be home. Relaxing... Phew!

phew, rogaine

in the hills east of harvey.
we start on time at 12 noon.
deb navigates. does an excellent job :-)

i can barely follow the map... not sure why, dodgy vision doesnt seem to explain it. anyway, no worries, im happy to follow deb. slowly.

lots of rain, some heavy, most just drizzle. until... as we finish... rain pelts down. ha, missed us. mostly.

were glad to be back in the farm chalet, not in a tent.

we cover 18km in 5 hours. and will probably be back for more tomorrow.
im physically tired but it always takes a while longer for the brain to switch off.
but now... tired... enough.

rogaine day before

its a rogaine weekend. were spending two nights staying nearby.
more holiday than rogaine :-)

we set off at a sensible time, near noon. its a short drive.

we have three means of navigation.
1 mobile phone. i expect there will be a signal.

2 hema. no need for a phone signal. but its getting old. like me it stops often. luckily we have 3...
we know where were going.

theres freeway out of the city. then SW highway, a favourite drive.its scenic, with lots of interesting little towns along the way.
we stop for lunch at stirling cottage, just before harvey.
its a cafe in a replica of captain stirlings cottage. surrounded by beautiful english style gardens. the flowers tell us that it is very nearly spring.

the harvey river flpws in a U shape round the gardens. we follow the riverside walk. there are signs aboutsettlement, noongar and may gibbs, who apparently slept there.
the highway is close and noisy. despite that, its a peaceful and pleasant walk.

lunch special is lasanga, salad and chips. we both have it, the is supposed to be our main meal for the day. were sitting outside, looking over the river and gardens.nbeautiful.
we stop here whenever we pass.

its a short drive to our accommodation, harvey hills farmstay.

my first impression is, this is definitely a farm.
sonia manages payment while richie knowa the rain forecast. we are in chalet 1. behind the house, next to the chooks and rabbits. the chalet is not new but clean, comfortable and cosy.
the vieq from our verandah is across green paddocks, down to water which i think is harvey dam. then more paddocks and a few small hills. all the big hills are nearer the rogaine site.

deb is just back from a walk. she took carrots, they come with the chalet, and looked for animals. she found sheep, horse and llamas. all so well fed that they ignored the carrots, which deb finally dropped in the gras. i suggested throwing at the animals.

there are two families in other chalets. with noisy kids. but no matter... not our kids :-)

Twice the fun

I go to the dentist. He finds a cavity, Now I'm booked for a drill-and-fill in the same week as my next MRI.

Makes the MRI a very pleasant experience -- in comparison.
And that's something to be glad about :-)

all fine :-)

It's a while since I've posted -- because nothing much is happening.
Last scan was not really reassuring. Next scan is not for a few weeks. So, meanwhile, I'm fine :-)

Okay, I have an underlying gloom. Deb says, correctly, that I stress easily.
Physically -- what can be seen -- is okay.
Only okay -- but that's because I'm never very fit. I still run -- but even more slowly. But I "want" to run, so that's good. None of that "can't be bothered" feeling.

I've been getting some "projects" done. Things that take time, may never be useful but I want to get them done. This involves staying up till 3am because I work best at night. It gives me an excuse for being tired during the day.
"My app" is one of these projects. Documenting it for developers. I still have no expectations that they can code it but not for want of *me* trying :-)
