back to old tech

I think that this is how it used to work: I type a post, press send, the post sits in the outbox until we get back to internet. i hope it still works. i won't know till we're home again.
I tried that on the laptop, the one with a decent keyboard, the post just... disappeared. So, back to the ancient android. fingers crossed.

And then there's the gps navigation tech.Total fall. enough said.

 Tuesday:
we check or of the luxury hotel in Katanning. It's very nice. a great experience.we're glad we stayed there. not glad enough to want another night.

it takes all day to get to our next place.
We start with a visit to Lake Unpronounceable, it ends with martup. What a beautiful spot. an enormous lake, probably quite shallow. good for swimming, boating, bird watching. absolutely peaceful. we enjoy some peace and quiet then head back to town.
we get diesel for the truck, ice for the esky. we even find a few caches. then we drive to Kojonup. where we stop at another favourite cafe, the black cockatoo. we like our holidays to go from cafe to cafe. we snack and buy sandwiches for lunch.
when the GPS tells us to make a U turn we stop for a picnic lunch. Middle of nowhere. perfect weather. not another person in sight. just us and the flies.
The rest of the afternoon is spent finding our cottage.
Bell Cottage, one of karri hill cottages.
The written directions are rubbish.no internet for G Maps. the no-internet gps fails. after a few false turns... we get here.it is worth the effort. a simple cottage.surrounded by paddocks and bush. i first heard of it as a stop for Bibb Track walkers. better than a tent :-)

we had a vague plan of going to a nearby pub for dinner. no way will we drive any further.not with the sun setting.
we settle in, have crackers and cheese for dinner. relax.

some other highlights...
we looked at the kobeelya mansion in Kat, we looked only outside. looks impressive, very nice.
the road to here is through lots of bush with spectacular trees, very pleasant, easy driving but a long day. this location makes it worthwhile.
despite one cache which we failed to find. others were in interesting places. or, at least, found.

now I'll send. and hope that it will actually send when we get internet again.
oh... this cottage does have phone internet -- if we stand outside on the verandah.
