bishops palace

theres a palace, a cathedral and gardens.
guess what? we should see the gardens *next* month :-) yes its spring but the flowers are not yet in full bloom. i wonder if months of drought have affected flowering?
there are flowers but more buds. deb enjoys what she sees. and she likes the gardens as they are:-)  deb is happy, so im happy.

the garden beds are well tended. with dark rich damp soil. and water flowing everywhere.
several of the Wells wells come up in the garden. the water is pushed up by an underground river. people dropped dye in potholes... a bit later the garden wells turned green. thats science in action :-)

coffee and cake, then into the palace.
big, old stone, smell of age and timber.

then the cathedral. age, carved stone, ancient clock still keeping good time. i see the scissor arches and am impressed.
if i were religious, this would reinforce it. powerful design, well built.

then we have coffee and another delicious scone. in a cafe by the palace. an ordinary seeming cafe... with stone walls a meter thick. wow!

we walk through Market Square with a coronation party in progress. good music.
to the hotel, where we ask how to get the car to the hotel carpark. its easy enough... well no.

knowing where were going, the roads ate easy.
then theres a narrow lane through the building. deb barely squeezes the car round the right angle bends, i stand as guide.
then the carpark. two spaces, three cars. deb gets help. a hotel employee tries, fails, parks us in the driveway behind his own car. phew!

another break
... the concert is goong well :-)
